Yum!
This tasty plant based mixture is quick and easy to prepare and tastes delicious in a sandwich with a pickle or two.
Recently I tried Aldi’s meatless crumbles in a dish that my Mom prepared for us to eat while we were visiting one afternoon. I was impressed with the texture and flavor of the crumbles, and even more so when I learned it came straight out of a box! I’ve had other meatless crumbles from other brands before, but they’ve always been frozen. Aldi’s crumbles come in a box that can sit on your shelf until you’re ready to use them.
I was so impressed with the texture and flavor of these crumbles that my Mom decided to gift me with not one, not two, but FOUR boxes! “Wow, what am I going to do with all of these?” I thought, and with a whim of inspiration came the idea to try to make a type of Sloppy Joes out of them when I couldn’t get a traditional hamburger patty to work.

Ingredients:
- Aldi’s meatless crumbles.
- Cooking spray or oil
- Bread of choice.
- Non dairy cheese (we used Daiya’s cheddar style slices)
- Ketchup
- Pickles or other condiments and toppings as desired.
Instructions:
- Begin by preparing the mixture as instructed on the box, then move to a greased skillet and heat on medium high for about 5 minutes, or until thoroughly cooked as described on the box.
- After mixture is cooked, transfer to a medium mixing bowl and add two slices of non dairy cheese.
- Heat in the microwave for about 1 minute or until cheese is melted onto the mixture.
- Add desired amount of ketchup and stir well. Reheat for another 30 seconds in the microwave and stir again, until the cheese and ketchup are completely mixed in.
- Add about three spoons of mixture onto toasted bread and add pickles or other toppings as desired.
